The 7 Cabins

Built in Alta in 2025. Carefully placed between the trees. Each cabin with unique framing of view to nature and Northern light above.
Natural stone from the region used to minimise impact on nature. It is fully booked.
The Kitchen Design

Oslo. New kitchen in 1890s appartment block. Old dining room converted into kitchen. Old kitchen became new bedroom, giving current owners the extra bedroom needed, and without any major construction changes - it can be reconfigured to original floorplan in the future.
The driving range

New driving range for Oppegård Golf Resort, Norway. Without driving ranges - no Tiger Woods or Suzanne Pettersen.
The Podcast

Arkitektpodden hosted by Magnus investigates what good architecture is, why the criticts don´t like much of what is built - and why things end up the way they do.
The Video Project

Presentation video of competition proposal for 90.000 sq.m. cultural and sports center in China. Worked with design team and made script, directed shoot and worked with photographer/editor to finalize.
The Basement

Former damp storage room converted into modern studio/multifunctional room with storage, toilet, kitchenette and gym space.
The Housing Project

Proposal for 25 assisted housing flats in Oppdal.

About

Emil and Magnus are the Em and the Ma in em/ma.

We started working together while studying at Oslo School of Archtecture. Our first project was a competion entry for a new kiosk in Gothenburg.

We´re both pragmatic and hands-on in our approach to architecture — it makes us effective and happy. We like making things.

Our studio is in central Oslo and we collaborate with other architecture firms to take on larger projects and learn from the best.

Our focus is on delivering high-quality drawings, plans and built work — on time.

We don´t like wasting time. Life is too short.

Hands on.

We both like working on site: demolish, build, paint, veld, cast, sand. Understanding the site, materials, construction, statics - nothing beats beging there and doing it.
Concrete.

The best building material in world? We love concrete and Emil is a specialist on different stuff you can add to get a nice finish.
Historic Stuff.

Appreciating what is already here is a must. What can be fixed, what must be remade - and what should be new.
Magnus made this new, old balustrade on the wood turner for 1890s staircase.
Work Experience

Emil´s carreer as snowboarder has given him a few perspectives architecture school does not provide.
This is him warming up for the US X-Games in 2018.
... And Action!

Magnus’s experience as an actor — always typecast as a slight douchebag — has given him valuable practice in presentation technique. He enjoys being on camera.
